When it comes to makeup, Hilary Duff's vanity table looks like a lot of other people's: She's a known devotee of Glossier's super-popular Boy Brow, Tarte's Creaseless Concealer has been her go-to for covering breakouts, and she's a fan of her own Nudestix collection, of course. Her skin-care regimen, however, is a little pricier, thanks to a serum that costs more than all of those makeup products combined.
On Saturday, October 19, Duff took to her Instagram Stories to profess her love for Tata Harper's Elixir Vitae. "You complete me..." Duff wrote over a Boomerang of the serum, its glass bottle and golden cap glowing in her hand. Called "a supernatural hyper-potent serum that targets severe wrinkles to restore the look of youthful plumpness and volume" by the brand, one ounce of it will set you back $450.
What makes Duff and other fans of the highly-rated formula feel like its worth the price? It may be the whopping 72 ingredients — all of which the brand says are of natural origin — chosen for their ability to help smooth, hydrate, and plump skin in what Elixir Vitae enthusiasts feel is a noticeable way. The bottle says it's "The Ultimate Wrinkle Solution," and Tata Harper herself has previously told Allure, "It basically works as an alternative to injections." A bold claim, yes, but it seems Duff feels similarly. It was even used on the makeup-free models in Stella McCartney’s Spring/Summer 2020 runway presentation.
Elixir Vitae isn’t the only Tata Harper product Duff loves. In 2017, she told The New York Times, “I use this Tata Harper eye cream — the Restorative one,” referring to the brand’s Restorative Eye Créme, which goes for $105. But not all of Duff’s skin-care picks have three-digit price tags. Her Instagram Stories also revealed that she loves Shiva Rose Glow Face Balm. "You make me glow," she wrote over a Boomerang of her hand holding the jar, a $75 blend of oils like natural oils like coconut, argan, frankincense, and ylang ylang.
