Hilary Duff is getting real about motherhood.

On Sunday, the 34-year-old shared a message to her Instagram stories with her more than 19 million followers, admitting that being a mother-of-three is not always easy— especially when it comes to time management.

"So heartbreaking when you hear that like, 'Can you play with me?' And you realize that you can't split yourself in half or in threes sometimes," the "How I Met Your Father" actress said.

Duff admitted that it can be difficult to have the energy to get through the day.

"And you also realize you haven't had enough caffeine to do all the things, and you're just like," she added, making a peace sign with her fingers and panning over to her three-year-old daughter, Banks. "That's mom life."

Duff has opened up before about the "mayhem" that is parenthood at times. Back in May, the "Younger" star told People that despite having help, it takes a lot of energy to care for her three young children, Luca, 9, from Duff's first marriage, Banks, 3, and Mae, 8 months.

"I have help, but babies just want their mom. Even Luca is still like, 'Mom, Mom, Mom.' Mom cooks the thing the right way, and Mom packs the bag the right way. It's crazy," she said. "It's a learning curve to throw a newborn into the mix. A lot of people have been like, 'That third kid really gets you.' And they're right!"

Duff added that while it isn't easy, she loves being a mom and credited her husband, Matthew Koma, with helping her keep everything running smoothly.

"He was such an amazing dad right out the gate," Duff said of Koma. "In this time of breastfeeding and craziness, he was like, 'I'm just going to be your assistant because I think that's how I'm going to be the most help to you in this timeframe.' He has this really amazing way of looking at the big picture where I'm very much like, right-here-right-now — and he zooms out."
