For the most part, Hilary Duff tends to keep her eye makeup pretty simple. Every now and then she'll wear eye shadow, but generally speaking, she sticks to mascara — sometimes eyeliner — and that's about it. This week though, the 32-year-old actress decided to step out of her comfort zone and try a fun holographic look to wear with her face mask, and it turned out nothing short of mesmerizing.
The Younger star first hinted at trying out a bold eye look on Instagram in a video message directed at her longtime makeup artist, Kelsey Deenihan. In the clip, she said she "copied" Deenihan by getting the Lorac Diamond Eye Gloss Trio and then raved about how she can't wait to try them out. Lo and behold, just a few hours later, Duff debuted a shimmery blue eye look via a selfie on her IG story. In the photo, she kept her eyes closed to showcase the full effect, and well, let's just say that Deenihan would definitely be proud.
From the looks of the photo, Duff used the blue eye gloss from the Lorac set to draw a thick line on her upper lash line, and then smudged it out for a more diffused feel. Additionally, to keep the focus on the holographic aspect, she didn't use any other eye shadow or eyeliner. Instead, she applied a few healthy coats of mascara to make her lashes look really long and defined.
As it turns out, the magical look lasted all day and into the night, too. Impressed with the results, Duff shared a second selfie later in the evening to show fans how the liner stayed completely intact. Needless to say, if you've been in a makeup rut lately, allow this look to inspire you to try something sparkly and out of the box soon.
