Such was the case for Dwyer football, whose contest against Glades Central was postponed until Oct. 17 following a severe storm during halftime that triggered a prolonged delay.
This comes after Dwyer’s contest against Palm Beach Gardens earlier this month was called in the third quarter after a lightning delay that was accompanied by heavy rain.
After Alex St. Julien opened the scoring between the Panthers (2-2) and Raiders (1-4), Glades Central scored on the first play of the second quarter — and then again minutes

Despite the rain holding off until halftime, both teams struggled with ball control in the first half, as the squads combined for four fumbles.
While the Panthers failed to convert on a field goal, the Raiders made sure to capitalize on Dwyer’s turnovers.

For now, each team will turn their attention to their next opponent.
Glades Central will prepare to host a Cardinal Newman team in the midst of a dominant 2022 campaign, while Dwyer will travel to the Raiders’ neck of the woods to face an equally successful Pahokee squad next Thursday.
