Nicole Curtis, star of HGTV's Rehab Addict, decided to make a major change to her long, waist-length hair-for a very good cause. Nicole cut over a foot of her hair to help create wigs for children suffering from hair loss. "We took donations from my fans to create two wigs for children (including my hair) and provided the funding in honor of #tessaprothero," Nicole told PEOPLE. Tessa, the daughter of Nicole's lead contractor Bobby Prothero, lost her battle to cancer in 2017.

Nicole posted a photo on Instagram of her chopped hair, with a heartfelt caption.

Nicole wrote that if she'd just cut her hair for a new look, she would have felt that it was too short. "However, every inch (over 15) is going straight to one amazing child," she said. "As you may know it takes 15-20 ponytails to make one wig-mine will be combined with hair from the friends right here donating theirs." Nicole mentions that her cousin donated her hair, as well, so they'd be able to make a blonde and brunette wig.

Nicole worked with Children With Hair Loss to donate and create the two wigs. She described the process in a separate Instagram post. "1. They take the colored hair 2. they provide services at no fee for these children 3. Go back to number 2! Insurance does not cover such a thing, it's all donated money and hair."
