Here's Why 'This Is Us' Star Michael Angarano (Jack's Brother) Looks Familiar

Even though we're now onto the fifth season of This Is Us, one of season 3's most notable faces, Michael Angarano, is returning to once again play Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia)'s younger brother, Nicky, in several flashback scenes.

While some fans might recognize the actor from a few prior projects, here's a snapshot of Michael's work and some overall interesting things to know about the actor in case you aren't familiar with him:

He's from New York.

Brooklyn, New York to be more specific. His IMDB states he was born on December 3, 1987 to Doreen and Michael P. Angarano.

Michael was previously in Will and Grace.

If you saw Michael and thought "Hmm, his face looks so familiar," chances are it's because you're remembering him as Elliot (Jack McFarland and Bonnie's son) on Will and Grace.

Of course, that's not to say Michael hasn't made a name for himself beyond appearing in the sitcom. He's also scored some notable parts in I'm Dying Up Here, Mom, Arrested Development, 24, Summerland, and Sun Dogs.

But you also may recognize him as Meryl Streep's son ...

... movie son, to clarify. In the 1999 drama Music of the Heart, Michael plays Roberta (Meryl)'s child Nick. According to his IMDB, he actually had to learn to play the violin for his role and still plays it to this day.

He's been romantically linked to Kristen Stewart.

According to W, Michael and the Twilight star began dating back in 2005 after meeting while filming Speak. After four years of dating though, the two broke up in 2009 just after Kristen had finished the first Twilight movie. She then began seeing Robert Pattinson shortly after ending things with Michael.

His grandma is really pumped he's playing Nicky on This Is Us.

When the news was announced in 2018 that Michael would be playing Nicky, he revealed on his Twitter account that one family member in particular was really stoked.

"I am beyond grateful and very excited to be a part of this show," he wrote. "My grandmother even told her dentist."
