Here's why Netflix has abruptly cancelled Glow

• According to creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch the streamer decided to abruptly stop filming on the fourth and final season before it was finished, citing coronavirus complications as the cause.

On Monday this week Netflix announced its decision to cancel wrestling comedy GLOW, ending the hugely successful show before the fourth and final series had finished filming.

Show creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch told Deadline that Netflix had decided to cancel the show abruptly due to the difficulty in filming such physical scenes amid coronavirus restrictions. Filming on series four of the show was suspended three weeks in back in March as the outbreak worsened. According to Deadline, the already expensive series would have been even more costly with the required changes and infrastructure needed to make it safe. Plus, since the show wasn't set to return to Netflix until 2022, the decision was made to simply scrap the fourth and final season.

Many of the cast took to social media when the news broke on Monday night to share their sadness at the show's end and to praise their costars for their work on the hugely popular series.

Series lead Alison Brie posted a series of pictures of the cast to Instagram with the caption, "Going to miss this... Forever grateful to my GLOW family for changing my life forever. ❤️ #glownetflix."

Marc Maron tweeted the news late last night and also shared fans' Instagram Stories to his own, including one with the caption, "This is so upsetting - I loved this show so much. It had already been renewed for season 4, was filming when COVID shut it down, and the series regulars had already been paid. Not to mention how awesome it was to finally see a show with diverse women of all ethnicities and body types. And so hilarious and poignant. Damn."

The rest of the cast also shared their feelings about the shows cancellation on social media.

We're so sad to see this show go.
