From the gal who invented a new meaning for the words 'glazed donut,' subtly reminding us, every time we walk past a Krispy Kreme, to keep our skin healthy and glowing, Hailey Bieber has quickly proved that she reigns supreme in another beauty category — nails.
Taking to TikTok to share her latest and greatest nugget of beauty knowledge, Mrs. Bieber has revealed exactly what goes down with her nail artist Zola Ganzorigt when they go about creating her go-to nail look. Don't get scared away — there's a little bit of DIY work involved, but the shiny, lightly chromed effect is sooo worth it!
"Here’s my nail combo 👀 the 🔑 is to mix whatever color you choose with clear polish to thin it out ✨," Hailey captioned the quick clip that starts with Zola mixing up a clear gel nail polish and OPI's Pale to the Chief gel color with a spatula nail tool. Thinning out the colored polish with clear gel makes the shade appear lighter and more on the translucent side.
While the mixing of the polishes is the first thing shown, we bet Zola used OPI's Stay Strong Gel Base Coat off-camera before applying the color, as she did in her Hailey Bieber Met Gala nail tutorial on IG. Then, after expertly brushing the newly mixed shade onto Hailey's long nails (can Rhode make a cuticle oil next, pls?), Zola cures (aka sets and dries with an LED light) the color before repeating the curing process with OPI's Stay Shiny Top Coat.
Here comes the magic! Zola uses a small foam-tipped makeup applicator to apply OPI's Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can, brushing the product from the cuticle of the nail down to the tip to get the sought-after glazed sheen. Again, making an assumption based on Zola's Met Gala tutorial, the nails are finished off with another coat of OPI's Stay Shiny Top Coat before being cured under the light once more.
As the supermodel has shown us in recent weeks, the 'glazed-donut' nail trend is not only for pale or nude colors. On July 9, Hailey showed off a frosty lilac set on TikTok which followed up her declaration of "Neon with chrome all summer baby," in a July 1 pool video.
And if Hailey says it's a trend, a ~vibe~, you know it's true. So you better run to the salon and get that chrome set in gel ASAP. But we've got an even better idea. You can find all the products you need to DIY Hailey's look at home right here — no appointment required!
