Here’s How to Look Like an Olsen Sister

Captain America: Civil War star Elizabeth Olsen attended the CFDAs last night with her favorite designers, sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley. Olsen rocked a black jumpsuit from the Row (of course) and stunned with fresh makeup and a fresh half updo. We got the scoop on how to re-create her hair and makeup from her stylists.
Makeup artist and Simple Skincare advisory board member Gita Bass explained the inspiration behind the look: “The simple elegance of Elizabeth’s the Row black silk jumpsuit was the inspiration for the makeup. Cool, elegant, and gorgeous!”
Bass described how she prepped Olsen’s face and created that gorgeous glow.
“For the ultimate clean, hydrated canvas, I prepped her skin with a Simple Skincare Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes and Simple Skincare Protecting Light Moisturizer, SPF 15. Olsen’s skin is flawless, so a few drops of Giorgio Armani Maestro and some Clé de Peau Concealer was all I needed to make it camera-ready. Then to add a sun-kissed glow, I applied Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna in the hollows of her cheeks, temples, and then used the same product as blush to warm up her nose; this mimics how the sun warms the skin. To amp up the radiance, I applied BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone from temples to cheekbones and a little down the bridge of the nose.”
For the eyes, Bass says, “I smudged Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes in Spice on her lids up to the crease, as well as on the bottom lash line, and smudged with both my fingers and a soft brush. I then layered the Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna over the top as eyeshadow and blended well. For added definition, I smudged Charlotte Tilbury Rock’N’Kohl Iconic Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Barbarella Brown close to the upper and lower and inner lash lines. I used a few coats of Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir.”
To top off the eyes, Bass says, “I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe and set them with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, for the perfect groomed brow.”
Finally, to complete the look with a chic rosy nude, the makeup artist says, “I used MAC Lip Pencil in Spice and feathered it over the lips mixing it with Amore Lip Treatment.”

And Olsen’s cute half-up pony?
“We knew we wanted a half-up look. Instead of the Hun — half-up bun look — we normally opt for, we opted for a sleek and healthy half ponytail,” Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend told us via email.
“I started by spraying Dove Quench Absolute Leave-In Detangler on her damp hair and blowing her out with my Spornette Mixed Bristle round brush and my Harry Josh blow-dryer,” Townsend says. “Once the hair was dried, I went in section by section and sprayed Dove Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo at her roots for fullness.”
“I then went in and sectioned a high ponytail at her crown and secured it with three Blax black elastics. By tripling the elastics, the ponytail had more grip and a higher lift, and I then added a slight bend to her ends with my R Sessions Tidal Waver, wrapping her locks around the larger of the two irons.”
Townsend finished with a not-so-surprising product, saying, “Once the look was complete, I sprayed her gorgeous mane with Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo for shine and fragrance.”
