Here's How Fast COVID Is Spreading in Your State

As we move deeper into the fall, the coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of abating. On the contrary, numbers are up across the U.S., and no state has been spared an outbreak. With health experts warning that things could continue to get worse as the temperature drops and more people are forced indoors—where COVID is more likely to spread—it's worth stepping back and taking a look at the current state of the crisis. Based on the number of daily new cases, this is how fast COVID is spreading in every state.

To determine the current growth of the virus across the country, we looked at the color-coded map of COVID risk developed by the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI). The map divides states into categories based on the number of daily new cases per 100,000 people as a 7-day moving average. States with 25 or more daily new cases per 100,000 people are "tipping point" states at the highest "red" risk level. States with fewer than 1 case per 100,000 people are "green," meaning "on track for containment." As of Oct. 8, there are no green states.

Wondering how your state is faring? Read on to find out the daily new case rate and the risk level for every state in the country. And for more troubling coronavirus numbers, These Are the States Where COVID Deaths Are Rising Right Now.
