The Golden Globes are back, and this year, they've tapped comedian Jerrod Carmichael to host the award show!
Here are a few fun facts you should know about the multi-faceted celebrity, if you're unfamiliar with him:

1.Jerrod grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and moved to Los Angeles when he was 20 years old to pursue a career in stand-up comedy.
2.He earned his very first comedy special, Love at the Store, with HBO in 2014. It was directed by Spike Lee. Little did he know, his partnership with HBO was far from over.
3.Not only is Jerrod a comedian, but he's also an actor, writer, and director. He created, wrote, produced, and starred in the sitcom The Carmichael Show, which ran for three seasons on NBC from 2015–2017. The semi-biographical series followed a fictional version of his family.

4.You might've also seen Jerrod in films like Mid90s, Neighbors, The Disaster Artist, Transformers: The Last Knight, and more.
5.He was an executive producer on popular shows like Ramy and Rel.
6.In 2019, he was tapped to narrate on Tyler, the Creator's fifth studio album, Igor.
7.That same year, Jerrod continued his collaboration with HBO. He released two documentaries: Home Movies and Sermon on the Mount.
8.In 2021, he made his feature directorial debut with On the Count of Three — a dark dramedy about two friends who make a suicide pact. He starred in the film alongside Girls actor Christopher Abbott.
It premiered at Sundance and went on to win the Dramatic Screenwriting Award.
9.In 2022, he released another stand-up special with HBO called Rothaniel (which happens to be his first name). In this highly vulnerable project, Jerrod came out publicly as gay.
10.Two days after the premiere of Rothaniel, Jerrod made his SNL debut as host.
11.Later that year, Jerrod took home his first Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Special. He was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on SNL.
