After trying all kinds of different workouts to try and tone his "dad bod" and develop six-pack abs, YouTuber Isaiah Photo turned to the world of anime for inspiration; specifically, One Punch Man. You might be familiar with the One Punch Man workout; in the show, the hero Saitama did 100 situps, 100 pushups, 100 squats, and a 10 km run every single day, until he overcame all of his human weaknesses.

But can recreating the training regime of an animated superhero yield actual results? A number of influencers have tried, and while some lost weight and got toned using the One Punch Man workout, others have found that doing the same repetitive exercises every day, without a recovery period or progression, is an inefficient way to build strength.

In addition to adopting Saitama's daily workout, Isaiah also cuts out junk food from his diet. "It's been brutal running 6.2 miles after doing all that, and especially after doing 100 squats, my legs feel like jello," he says as he comes to the end of the first week. "One Punch Man, I don't know how you do it, but I'm going to keep trying!"

As the challenge progresses, the squats continue to be the most difficult exercise. And having opted not to allow himself any rest days for the entire month, Isaiah experiences more and more soreness in his legs. "My legs are definitely becoming more defined," he says, "and I can feel it. They hurt so bad."

At the end of the 30 days, Isaiah notices some visible definition in his chest and shoulders. "I can definitely see my abs a little bit more than at the beginning of this challenge," he says, "however I do not have the raging six-pack that I was hoping for."

"In the end, I think this challenge was really about toning my body," he says. "I do not think I got any stronger, I don't think anybody doing this workout would get much stronger, maybe just a little bit if you don't work out already, but in total it's more toning your body. The reason for that is all that cardio, and just doing the same workout over and over again. Doing the same thing, your body's going to get used to it, and you're not going to get any more muscle because you're not adding more resistance."
