If you’ve ever shopped for form-fitting swimsuits, you know they can get expensive: Bathing suits with built-in shapewear can easily cost you well over $100. So when the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab saw this Amazon best-seller by Tempt Me that’s just $28, they couldn’t wait to put it to the test.
The Good Housekeeping Institute was happy to report that this Tempt Me style definitely lives up to its hype. That’s not surprising, considering it already has over 1,600 five-star reviews on Amazon, but beyond consumer reviews, Good Housekeeping Institute's panel of testers and Lab experts were just as wowed by it in evaluations. In fact, one tester compared it to the magical jeans in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: it fits everyone perfectly.
To test the swimsuit, 10 women of varying sizes, body types, ages, and style preferences tried the suit out. The Good Housekeeping Institute also wash-tested it in the Lab to check for signs of wear and colorfastness to see if this super-affordable suit can last longer than just a few wears. Here’s why this swimsuit will be the best purchase you make for yourself this summer.
It’s universally flattering.
Every single tester rated it flattering in the test. One even commented that the smoothing mesh panels in the back prevented spillage that normally creates "back fat" in other swimsuits.
The bathing suit comes in sizes XS-XL for sizes 0 through 16, as well as extended sizes 14 Plus through 20 Plus. It’s also available in 16 different colors and for the excellent value, it's worth it to buy multiple.
It’s supportive for most bust sizes.
The suit has removable cups that most women loved, especially nursing (and formerly nursing) moms who felt like they needed something extra in the bust. As an added bonus, the cups also gave a great shape. On top that that, the clasp in the back offered additional support so testers didn’t have to worry about popping out of low-cut suits or flimsy tops.
The style is on-trend.
Though many testers at first said the suit was not a style they would have normally chosen, they couldn’t stop raving about it after they wore it. The panel loved the attention to detail, specifically calling out the high neckline, mesh V-neck, and knot detail in the front. It shows skin, but in a tasteful way that testers ranging from 20s through 50s all said felt age-appropriate.
You don’t have to sacrifice comfort
You read that right-this swimsuit actually feels good on. The entire panel gave it high scores when the Institute asked them to rate the comfort. They especially loved the smoothness of the nylon/spandex fabric. Plus, it gets rid of pesky straps that fall down or dig into you: one tester commented "I really liked the high neckline and the clasp in the back. I felt comfortable knowing I was all tucked in."
It’s easy to wash.
No special care needed: you can clean this bathing suit right in the washing machine. After the Good Housekeeping Institute washed it five times in the Lab, there were still no signs of wear. Plus, they tested the colofastness, and the dye didn't bleed at all onto other fabrics like cotton, nylon, polyester in the wash. That means you can safely mix it with other garments in the laundry, and the vibrancy of the suit won't fade from repeated washing.
