"I give all the mamas props, because being a bonus mom and future stepmom is the hardest job I have ever had," Young told Daily Mail Australia in a recent interview.
El Moussa has two children, Taylor and Brayden, from his prior marriage to his Flip or Flop co-star Christina Anstead. El Moussa officially welcomed Young into the clan over the holidays by including her in family portraits. While we already knew at this point that Taylor officially approved of her dad's new girlfriend, it was confirmed that Brayden did, too.
"Thank you [Heather] for coming into our life and making this photo possible. I just love you and our little family so much," the Flip or Flop mogul wrote to Young on Instagram at the time in a message that included several heart emojis.
In the recent interview, Young said her role as "future stepmom" had taught her to be more patient and "to be less selfish."
"Over anything, Tarek and the kids come first for me," Young said. "It's been a challenge to balance everything, but I am learning—it takes time, and that's OK."
One way in which her life has changed since El Moussa's kids came into it? Young admitted that she never has time to sit down these days.
"I never sit down anymore," she said. "Even when I eat, I stand because I am always getting up to grab things for Tarek and the kiddos."
“We have a tennis instructor now, so the kids will play for an hour,” Young told People magazine earlier this summer. "And then Tarek and I will play for an hour."
