Health inspections: 8 Palm Beach County restaurants had pest violations, two close temporarily

Six restaurants in Palm Beach County failed to meet health and safety standards last week, resulting in four follow-up inspections and two temporary closures.

In Palm Beach County, Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation reported 104 violations during 45 recent restaurant inspections. Inspectors labeled 33 violations as high priority, 17 violations as intermediate priority and 54 violations as basic priority.

Eight restaurants in Palm Beach County violated pest standards. The department also handed out 17 violations in the county for food protection and cross-contamination.

Inspectors in Palm Beach County found nine restaurants with two or more high-priority violations and eight restaurants with five or more total violations.

Inspections among Palm Beach County restaurants with the most violations: King's Super Buffet, 4270 Okeechobee Blvd., was cited Oct. 12 with 16 total violations. King's Super Buffet, 4270 Okeechobee Blvd., was cited Oct. 13 with one total violations.

Palm Beach County restaurants temporarily closed

In Boca Raton:

  • La Condesa Mexican Restaurant, 3320 Airport Road, was closed Oct. 10 after inspectors reported two high-priority violations, one intermediate-priority violation and one basic violation. The restaurant made the necessary corrections and reopened the next day.

In West Palm Beach:

  • King's Super Buffet, 4270 Okeechobee Blvd., was closed Oct. 12 after inspectors reported five high-priority violations, one intermediate-priority violation and 10 basic violations. The restaurant made the necessary corrections and reopened the next day.

  • Brass Ring Pub, 200 US 1, was cited Oct. 13 with one pest violation among 10 total violations.

In West Palm Beach:

  • King's Super Buffet, 4270 Okeechobee Blvd., was cited Oct. 12 with two pest violations among 16 total violations.

  • Southern Spice Ash Lounge, 407 Northwood Road, was cited Oct. 13 with one pest violation among five total violations.

Inspections are reported through the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, which says each inspection is a snapshot and restaurants could have more or fewer violations on other days. High-priority violations are those that could cause food poisoning or injury, such as problems with cooking, cooling and handwashing. Intermediate violations are those that could lead to risk factors that could contribute to food poisoning or injury, such as problems with personnel training. Basic violations are those that violate best practices.
