The Roy family is back, and they're more demented than ever. Succession, which has been on an extended hiatus thanks to the Covid pandemic, is making is triumphantly messy return to HBO this fall and let's just say that the landscape for Waystar Royco's next fiscal year looks messy as hell. In the first glimpse at the long-awaited season three, Succession is in the deep throes of a Roy-family civil war, with Roy family members taking sides after Kendall betrayed his father. But every Succession fan knows that Logan Roy isn't going to simply step down in the face of a public and criminal crisis.

In the official teaser for season three, the lines aren't as clear as you might assume. Before anyone takes up arms for Logan (Brian Cox) or Kendall (Jeremy Strong), the Roy family soldiers want to know exactly what's in it for themselves. At the center of that feud is Shiv (Sarah Snook), whose allegiance seems to rely on who can cut her the better deal. If this sounds like all drama, no laughs, fear not. The trailer features a threat against Cousin Greg that promises "Logan is going to fire a million poisonous spiders down your dicky."

Of course, season two (which wrapped up nearly two years ago) ended with Kendall throwing his father Logan under the bus before his father had the opportunity to do the same to him. In a press conference where Kendall was supposed to be the "blood sacrifice" for the Roy family and Waystar Royco's illegal dealings in its cruise division, Kendall turns the table, exposing his father's own shady misgivings. "The truth is that my father is a malignant presence, a bully, and a liar, and he was fully personally aware of these events for many years," Kendall says at the end of season two. "I have with me today copies of records that show his personal sign offs."

Kendall may be coming into season two with the upper hand, but if two seasons of Logan Roy's dark antics are any indication, the patriarch won't be down long. Now, the follow up: what kind of bread do you think Logan will make out of Kendall's ground up bones?
