Welcome to The Esquire Endorsement. Heavily researched. Thoroughly vetted. These picks are the best way to spend your hard-earned cash.

I have long been an advocate for the wearing of slippers. From drafty windows to splinter-prone floorboards to all the hard-angled stuff that kids and pets tend to leave lying around, there are a lot of reasons for keeping your feet warm and protected in your home. But I never considered myself an advocate for the wearing of a specific kind of slippers. I just endorsed the idea broadly, without focusing on the items more narrowly.

Then I tried Glerups, and things changed. Now I am the kind of person who makes the declaration that not only do you need slippers, you need these slippers and you need them like now. I'm sure this makes me super fun at parties. But despite what some might call a "glaring personality flaw," I'd like to take this moment to encourage you to drop a little of your recently acquired holiday dough on the brand's super-cozy wool slippers. It's worth it.

They're coming from the right place.

Glerups is based in Denmark, otherwise known as the country with a bunch of people who are almost inexplicably happy despite the frozen conditions that descend upon the land for a large chunk of the year. The abundance of good feelings might have something to do with all that universal healthcare or just knowing that Noma is (theoretically) available for a 20-course meal, but I'd wager it also has a lot to do with the Danish concept of "hygge." You remember hygge, right? It was huge in the States in 2016, and basically comes down to embracing coziness where you find it (though, of course, it's a little more complicated than that). Good slippers, I'd also wager, help you on your path of coziness discovery.

They're made from the right stuff.

At the heart of Glerups slippers is some super-sturdy wool felt that's about as good as it gets when it comes to keeping your feet happy. For one thing, it's warm. It's also durable, and molds to your feet over time, providing a personalized fit that ups the comfort factor significantly. But perhaps most important is that wool naturally wicks moisture (and doesn't drink up odor, either), so your feet stay warm and dry while your slippers keep smelling like, well, as close to "nothing" as possible.

They're designed for real life.

I like the idea of a pair of "house shoes" that actually stay inside the house at all times. But what about running the trash out to the curb, or the odd coffee run where I just can't stand the idea of putting on "real" shoes. Thanks to the durable, rubber camp soles on Glerups slippers, you can pop out into the world while keeping your toes firmly cloaked in the comfort of home. As the name suggests, these soles are also great if you happen to go camping. Wear 'em around the fire! Gaze at the stars! Or, be like me, and wear them when a bacon-egg-and-cheese is calling your name and you don't want to put on socks. Either way.
