Harry Reveals That One Of Archie's First Words Were 'Grandma Diana'

Prince Harry is making sure that his children know about their late grandmother's legacy.
During a deeply candid conversation with Oprah Winfrey from their co-executive-produced Apple TV+ series, The Me You Can't See, the Duke of Sussex shares that one of the first phrases spoken by his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was "Grandma Diana."
He keeps a framed photo of his late mother in Archie's bedroom, which ultimately inspired his son to speak her name at such an early age.

During a deeply candid conversation with Oprah Winfrey from their co-executive-produced Apple TV+ series, The Me You Can't See, the Duke of Sussex shares that one of the first phrases spoken by his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was "Grandma Diana." The duke also reveals that he keeps a framed photo of his late mother in Archie's bedroom, which ultimately inspired his son to speak her name at such an early age.
"I got a photo of her in his nursery, and it was one of the first words that he said—apart from 'mama,' 'papa,' it was then 'grandma'. Grandma Diana," Harry says, per People. "It's the sweetest thing, but at the same time, it makes me really sad because she should be here."
Harry also expresses how much he wishes that his mother, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, was around to meet his wife, Duchess Meghan; their son; and their baby girl, who will be arriving later this summer. He believes ultimately that her presence always surrounds his family, but especially so in the last year.
"I wish she could've met Meghan. I wish she was around for Archie," Harry says in the series. "[But] I have no doubt that my mom would be incredibly proud of me. I'm living the life that she wanted to live for herself, living the life that she wanted us to be able to live."
He continues, "So not only do I know that she's incredibly proud of me, but that she's helped me get here. And I've never felt her presence more as I have done over the last year."
