It was a celebration for one Slytherin. Actress Scarlett Byrne, best known for her role as Pansy Parkinson in the Harry Potter film franchise, wed Playboy heir Cooper Hefner in a courthouse ceremony this week.

The couple announced their marriage via Instagram on Monday, November 4. Both Byrne and Hefner posted the same picture at the Ventura County Courthouse in California. “Scarlett and I have made it officially legal and the two of us could not be happier,” Hefner, 28, expressed. “Cheers to a life full of love, happiness, adventure, and great purpose, Mrs. Hefner.”

For the occasion, the Vampire Diaries actress (Byrne played Nora Hildegard) wore a sweetheart peplum top and matching white long skirt. The media company CEO opted for a simple dark suit with a white button down shirt.

Byrne and Hefner wrote that they will be planning a larger wedding for friends and family following this simple courthouse ceremony. “We are looking forward to planning our wedding in the coming months where we will celebrate further with our friends and family. I love you Cooper. I am proud to stand by your side, as your partner, your friend, and your wife. I cannot wait to continue building a life together. My heart is so full and I am so grateful for our love,” Byrne shared.

The couple joins other celebrity pairs who have opted to have two weddings: one smaller and one bigger. In early 2019, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas exchanged vows in an informal Vegas wedding before hosting a larger wedding in France. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin also said “I do” in an impromptu New York courthouse elopement in 2018 before hosting a luxe wedding weekend bash in South Carolina in September.

Considering the couple’s relationship history, the wait on their bigger celebration makes sense. The actress and CEO got engaged in August 2015. According the The Knot 2019 Jewelry and Engagement Study, the average engagement length is 13.6 months, putting the celebrity duo at the higher end of the spectrum in terms of engagement length. They also took to Instagram to share that big news, showing off Byrne’s stunning ring, which appears to be a cushion-cut yellow diamond in a pave setting on a platinum band.
