Brünhilde takes matters into her own hands

In the beginning, the series focuses on Brünhilde grieving the loss of Mark and coming to terms with his death. However, unsatisfied with the lack of police investigation, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Discovering some merchandise that has been planted in her husband's police uniform, she travels to his cabin on the hill and is met by a girl named Dunja, who had illegally entered Austria with her sisters. Brünhilde learns that Mark helped her (after she escaped from a kidnapping where her sisters were killed and surrounded by a group of men in rubber masks taking photographs) and let her stay in his cabin for her own safety.

Dunja then opens up to Brünhilde and tells her about the trauma she has suffered by the men, the crimes that have been covered up, the reason for her husband's murder, plus who was responsible. Unfortunately, Dunja cannot identify the killers because she only saw them wearing the masks.

Following this, Brünhilde discovers a series of photos that lead her to a Polaroid photographer called Edwin Schönborn, who was involved in the kidnapping and has an unusual branding on his body. Long story short, she ends up killing him trying to retrieve information from him.

The truth becomes darker

Brünhilde comes across another perpetrator, a shady priest called Herbert Jaunig via Edwin's Polaroids. She also notices he has the same brand on his body and is convinced that he is involved with the terrible crimes committed against the women, too.

Using Edwin's phone and luring some others to a chapel, Brünhilde then decides to try and find some other accomplices. Here, she meets Bertl Puch, whom she has met before, and also ends up killing.

Whilst this is all going on, Brünhilde's son is kidnapped by a man named Sebastian Hackspiel. It turns out he is a servant of the Schönborn family, and upon discovering he is connected, goes to his house to try and find the same brand on his body. But before she can do so, she passes out.

Not wanting to be arrested for abduction, Sebastian takes Brünhilde to the hospital. However, while there she finds out that Dr. Ludwig is also involved in the gang, and ends up choking him with a saline tube.

Brünhilde finds out who murdered her husband

Reza, a Syrian refugee who Mark had taken in had been helping Brünhilde all along without her realising. On multiple occasions, he had saved her life and covered up the murders she had committed on her quest for justice.

However, he made an error in the Puch murder, which led to an investigation into Brünhilde. Fortunately, Officer Massimo covers up for her and invites her over for dinner. In a dramatic turn of events, she finds out that it was Massimo was the fifth member of the group, and he was the person that killed her husband.

He then tells Brünhilde of the gang's whole plan, going back to their first victim, Gerda Thiele. After revealing what they did to her, he explains how they then branded themselves to form the group. Of course, everything then falls into place for Brünhilde:

Mark had obviously discovered the group and was trying to stop it, but the inside police officer and doctor made it impossible for him to do so.
