New Hampshire Firefighter Uses Sign Language to Communicate With Young Boy

A firefighter in New Hampshire used sign language to communicate with a young boy whom he noticed wasn’t speaking while on a call-out on January 31.

Local reports said the exchange occurred as firefighters responded to a fire alarm going off at an apartment on West Clarke street.

In a video posted by the boy’s mother, Lieutenant Mike Rheault and the boy, named Tegan, are seen spelling out their names using sign language.

Local reports said Tegan, who is non-verbal, was delighted by the encounter and watched the video several times. Tegan’s mother later posted a photo of her son wearing a fireman’s hat. Credit: Amy McCall via Storyful
