At the first table reads for Hamilton back in 2015, hip-hop tracks that made the musical a cultural phenomenon were taking shape. Another development happening? A romance between two of its original cast members, Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones. Both actors originated dual roles in the production. Ramos played John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, while Cephas Jones inhabited both Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.

Ahead, everything we know about the certified "Hamilcouple" and their path from co-stars to fiancΓ©es.

2014

During a recent Radio Andy interview with Bevy Smith, Cephas Jones confirmed that she and Ramos met during rehearsals of Hamilton back in 2014. A grainy New Year's Eve photo from that year proved the pair was hanging out in the lead-up to the show's Off-Broadway premiere at the Public Theater in early 2015. The show's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda jokingly tweeted about Ramos "sneaking glances" at Cephas Jones during their initial table read.

February 2015

The couple eventually got together around Valentine's Day, as evidenced by a Ramos Instagram post commemorating their two-year anniversary on February 16, 2017.

The co-stars shared backstage photos from their Off-Broadway run, which concluded in the spring of that year.

March 2016

About seven months into performances of Hamilton, the White House came calling. The cast performed songs from the musical for the Obamas' and Cephas Jones posted a photo of the couple inside.

Three years later, Ramos would reflect on that day in a video for his YouTube channel. "It was one of those moments…it’s like two kids from Brooklyn just in the White House, in love, chilling," Ramos remembered, later adding, "That's a moment in time."

Following more than three years of dating, Ramos proposed to Cephas Jones on Christmas Eve in front of a castle in England. Her mother, grandmother, and close friend Cynthia Erivo were present for the special moment. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram several days later, posing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

"Thank you for saying yes to writing stories together for the rest of our lives. I'm honored and Blessed to marry you. LEGOOO πŸ’πŸ•ΊπŸ»πŸ’ƒπŸ½," wrote, in part, on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Cephas Jones began her lengthy recap of the moment:

"My beloved Anthony,
On Christmas Eve you got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of my favorite castle in Arundel that I used to visit all the time as a child. It brought tears to my eyes because I don’t get to see my family in England that I’m so close with that much because we are an ocean away, but they got to witness this amazing event in our lives. And what a moment it was!!"

Ramos also shared a video of the lead-up to the proposal and the big moment itself on his YouTube channel.

A few days later, the couple debuted the sensual music video for Ramos's song, "Mind Over Matter," which Cephas Jones co-starred in.

Ramos also celebrated the release of his album by paying homage to Cephas Jones, writing, "'Only feel the ground under my feet when Jazzy standing right there next to me...' Ya’ll listen to 'Come Back Home' yet? The Good & The Bad Album Out Now."

Cephas Jones honored her fiancΓ©'s album release with a post of her own. "Whats wild is this billboard is on the same block of the show where we first met almost 5 years ago!! Full circle!!! Man oh man, you deserve it all and more. What an incredible moment in time for you my love. @anthonyramosofficial debut album The good & The bad is officially out now on all platforms!!! GO COP DAT SHIT!!!" she wrote on Instagram.

Vogue interviewed Ramos about his forthcoming wedding plans with Cephas Jones around that time. β€œJasmine and I both love music, so the DJ’s gotta be on point,” he said when pressed for any definite plans. β€œI want people sweating, suit jackets off, chancletas on.”

Several songs on Ramos's album are reportedly about Cephas Jones. For instance, he's spoken about how the track β€œOne More Hour,” is about the first time the couple kissed. And he's serenaded his future wife in concerts since.

November 2019

"You start your first tour today and it’s your birthday!!!" Cephas Jones wrote in an Instagram post for Ramos's 28th birthday. "Happy birthday to the hardest working man out there. In anticipation of the filmed version of Hamilton hitting Disney+ this month, the original cast has been speaking about the musical again. In a recent BroadwayWorld interview Cephas Jones said, "I watched it with my fiancΓ© Anthony, who is also in the show. We watched it together and my jaw was on the floor the whole time. You watch something like that and all your memories just flood through your brain."

During a radio conversation with Bevy Smith, the actress was asked about any challenges being in a relationship with a fellow artist. "I think it would be challenging if you don’t let yourselves have the freedom and understand that you both are creative people," Cephas Jones explained. "I think support and trust and love and constantly supporting that person and treating them loved in what they believe in and what they wanna do artistically. I think that’s the key when you’re artists. When ego gets thrown in there and all of that competitiveness, that’s where it can go downhill. But Anthony and I, we met working together and we love to work together."
