Hamidou Diallo is making the most of his extra minutes with the Pistons and Dr. A sees an opportunity for him to start games down the stretch.
STEVE ALEXANDER: Hamidou Diallo hit six of 10 shots, a 3-pointer, and six of seven free throws for 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and two blocks in Monday's impressive win over the reeling Raptors. Josh Jackson, who had been playing a big role for the Pistons, didn't even get off the bench in that game. And Diallo, Frank Jackson, and newcomer Cory Joseph all saw decent minutes against Toronto.
Dennis Smith, Jr. was out, and Saben Lee started at point guard, but it would appear that the Pistons are ready to give Diallo a big role on his new team. Diallo was playing at a high level in January and February for the Thunder, and he was particularly good in February when he averaged 12.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, a steal, a half block, and 0.4 3-pointers in 14 games.
He's not much of a 3-point shooter and it would be nice if he stole the ball more, but the minutes should be there off the Detroit bench. And it wouldn't even be surprising to see him move into the starting lineup at some point. He's worth grabbing if he's available in your league.
