I’m pretty set in my ways with the cleanser, eye cream and sunscreen that I use on a daily basis. But when one of my favorite style and beauty influencers, Blake of Signed, Blake, posted an Instagram story about a “miracle in a bottle” moisturizer that’s helped her to achieve “smooth skin,” I immediately added it to my Amazon shopping cart.

Blake has been very transparent with her over 67,000 Instagram followers about struggling with hormonal acne. So when fellow blogger @TheGlossier introduced her to this Japanese moisturizer and Blake saw a “drastic and immediate change” to her complexion, the Chicago-based beauty spilled all of the details on her Instagram account. And for that I’m forever grateful.

Much like Blake, I had no clue what exactly was in Hada Labo Rohto Goku-jun Hyaluronic Milky Lotion ($12) because I can’t translate the label. Thankfully, Amazon did a decent job of breaking down the fact that this skin care product contains an impressive combination of three hyaluronic acids. Dermatologists highly recommend this substance that penetrates deep into the skin, because it’s known to effectively stave off dryness and minimize the appearance of wrinkles and acne scars over time. It’s also free of common irritants like fragrance, alcohol and mineral oil.

After doing a deeper dive into this Japanese moisturizer, I discovered that it’s better used as a pre-lotion and to follow up with a thicker face cream and SPF, of course. I incorporated it into my everyday routine for three months straight, and I got comments like “Wow, your skin looks amazing!” and “What foundation are you wearing?” when I was absolutely barefaced.

Blake also mentioned on social media that the Hada Labo Milky Lotion balanced out her “oil levels” and “works to clear up minor breakouts literally overnight.” With such a positive results, it was no surprise that other black women who follow the content creator purchased the product ASAP and tagged Blake in their glowing reviews.

I believe this Amazon shopper, who posted a selfie as proof to back up her five-star rating of the “heaven sent” moisturizer, sums it up best: “Everyone ask me what’s my secret to my youth. Answer is God first foremost and of course this product.”
