Gwen Stefani Wrote the Most Heartfelt Tribute to Blake Shelton Amid 'The Voice' Exit

Blake Shelton shocked The Voice fandom with an announcement that no one saw coming.

On October 11, the country singer revealed on Instagram that after more than a decade of being a coach on the hit NBC series, he will be departing from the show after season 23. While the "God's Country" artist admitted in his post that he had been "wrestling with" making this difficult decision, he was ultimately thankful for all that it brought him, including his wife Gwen Stefani. As fans know, the two met during season 7 of The Voice in 2014.

When Blake shared his news of leaving The Voice, Gwen responded with a heartfelt message in support of everything he's done while on the show. "I am so proud of you and so blessed to have found [you]," she wrote in the comments section of Blake's post. "Your talent brings joy to the hearts of so many people and I am so lucky to be part of [your] life’s journey ❤️."

Gwen wasn't the only Voice coach to react to Blake's big announcement. Shortly after revealing he would be closing this chapter in his career, fellow NBC star John Legend shared his thoughts on Twitter saying, "You will be missed, brother! What an incredible run!"

While Blake's choice to leave The Voice was bound to occur, fans were nonetheless surprised by the turn of events. Many took to his comments section to air their opinions as well.

"Won't be the same without you. You are the GOAT," one fan wrote on Instagram. "I’m so sad this is happening but I know it’s been a long time for you on the show. Love and respect you. You truly are the king of the voice. It’s the end of an era," another follower noted. "I am so sad to read this, but you put in your time and made the show what it is! You will be greatly missed!" a different fan added.

Now, that Blake is officially making his exit from The Voice, does he have a plan for what he'll do next? As he told Hoda Kotb on Today in April 2021, he may just be into living a much simpler life with Gwen.

"We’ve both pretty much taken it to the limit as far as our careers go and touring and now the television thing," he said at the time. "It’s been fortunate to accomplish a lot of things. But, hopefully, at some point, we get a chance to live some life."

No matter what Blake chooses to do, one thing is for certain: he will have Gwen by his side.
