With 15 seasons already under its belt, not only does It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have four more seasons than another long-lasting comedy set in a bar, Cheers, it's also America's longest-running live-action sitcom, period. Now, the show's original trio of male stars — Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Charlie Day — have launched an Irish whiskey brand intended to pay tribute to the show's primary setting, Paddy's Pub.

The new whiskey brand is named Four Walls — which Howerton, who plays Dennis, described as a name "celebrating the four walls that have held our favorite memories in and kept our troubles out." (Though not mentioned in the announcement, in sitcoms, "the fourth wall" is also a term representing the metaphorical "wall" between the performers and the audience, perhaps adding an additional meaning to the name.) The project was envisioned during the COVID-19 lockdown and, as a result, all the proceeds will benefit the hospitality industry.

"We were shooting Season 15 when bars were shutting down all across America. So we decided to source some really great whiskeys and create something as a tribute to the bar and kick it off by giving back," Rob McElhenney, who created the show and plays Mac, stated.

The launch arrives with two limited-edition products at two distinctly different price points.

More casual whisky fans will probably reach for the blended whiskey which mixes Irish whiskies and Pennsylvania straight rye whiskey as a tribute to Paddy's Irish pub-on-American soil backstory. The 45-percent ABV result, sold in a "collectable premium box," is billed as being "smooth enough to be served neat but also holds up in a cocktail" — and bottles are priced at $89. The initial release will only be "a few hundred cases."

Meanwhile, lovers of Irish whiskey (and charity) may be more interested in the second option: a cask-strength Irish Whiskey sourced from a single-barrel that, like the show, had been aged over 15 years. Only 755 bottles are being produced, and each arrives in a mirrored engraved box that includes the signatures of all three stars with a price tag of $999.

"We learned just how rare and how collectible old Irish Whiskey is, and we couldn't believe we got our hands on some," explained Day, who plays Charlie. "[We] wanted to release it and do something for the people and places that do so much for all of us — the bars and the bartenders."

Both bottlings are on sale now and all proceeds from this initial launch will be donated to the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association's HARP (Hospitality Assistance Response of Pennsylvania).
