And the Grammy Award for Song of the Year Goes to…‘Bad Guy’ by Billie Eilish

One lucky track just dethroned “This Is America” by Childish Gambino for a highly coveted honor.

Tonight, the 62nd annual Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. During the ceremony, “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish won the award for Song of the Year.

The track was up against a slew of worthy nominees, including “Always Remember Us This Way” by Lady Gaga, “Bring My Flowers Now” by Tanya Tucker, “Hard Place” by H.E.R., “Lover” by Taylor Swift, “Norman F***ing Rockwell” by Lana Del Rey, “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi and “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo.

Song of the Year has been around since the first Grammy Awards ceremony in 1959. Since the category recognizes a single track, the award is given to the songwriter who wrote the lyrics. In some cases, this doesn’t always include the artist who performed it.

Previous winners include “This Is America” by Childish Gambino, “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars, “Hello” by Adele, “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, “Stay with Me” by Sam Smith, “Royals” by Lorde, “We Are Young” by Fun featuring Janelle Monáe, “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele, “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” by Beyoncé.

Welp, it’ll take days to get these lyrics out of our head.
