I Got All My Fall Staples at Abercrombie & Fitch (and I’m *Almost* Too Embarrassed to Admit It)

“I love that blouse. Where’d you get it?” The question hangs in the air as I hesitate slightly: “Oh, it’s Abercrombie & Fitch.”

This exact exchange has occurred three times in the past month. And every time, I walk away blushing. Up until now, I hadn’t even thought about the mall brand since middle school, but lately (like, at least once a week) I find myself perusing the site for flash sales and new arrivals.

On a personal level, my embarrassment stems from the cringe-worthy days of obnoxious logos, stores that reeked of cologne and popped-collar polos (double points if you layered them). But the designers at A&F have clearly grown up with the rest of us, because their cozy cardigans and faux-leather leggings are not only work-appropriate, they’re just downright good. Like really good. And even though the style (and quality!) has leveled up, the prices are still super affordable. And I swear everything is always discounted. So, hot tip, if you find something you like, always hold out for a sale.

Thanks to a recent online order, my fall wardrobe is completely set. Here are the eight Abercrombie & Fitch items I now can’t live without.

1. The Eyelash V-Neck Cardigan

Cardigans are everywhere this season, and I am beyond obsessed with this slightly sexy take on the classic. The fluffy eyelash yarn rivals some of my coziest knits, while the icy blue shade is less “grandma” and more “fun and flirty.” When paired with my favorite high-rise denim, this sweater will be my new go-to for date night. night.

2. The Wool-Blend Mini Skirt

My search for the perfect plaid mini is over. I love everything about this gray one: the length, the shape, the print, you name it. It’s classic, timeless and compatible with everything from an oversized blazer to a tissue-thin turtleneck. Plus, at under $50, how could I say no?

BUY IT ($48)

3. The Mini Velvet Puffer Jacket

I love my classic North Face puffer, but this cropped velvet version is way more fun. To integrate it seamlessly into my cold-weather attire, I went with the black version. Luckily, the dramatically high collar and unexpected texture make this coat anything but boring. TBH, if I had endless funds (and no shame), I would have bought the white sherpa version too.

BUY IT ($160)

4. The Essential Sherpa Fleece

Speaking of sherpa...the black-and-white checked pattern on this cozy quarter-zip couldn’t be more fall if it tried. I’ll be packing this for an upcoming trip to the Catskills (and living in it all weekend long).

5. The Long-Sleeve Satin Bodysuit

Oh, look, another trendy pick! This long-sleeve satin bodysuit is comfortable, flattering and looks like it should be way more expensive than it is. The bodysuit/blouse combo is the perfect mix of style and utility that lends itself to an “I have my sh*t together” vibe for work and happy hour.

BUY IT ($58)

6. The Wool-Blend Dad Coat

Everyone should have a neutral single-breasted coat hanging in their closet for those occasions when a puffer just won’t do. This one is tailored yet roomy and lined with satin to feel a little extra luxurious. I’m adding it to my cart now and preparing for the onslaught of compliments later.

BUY IT ($220)

7. THE HIGH-RISE FAUX-LEATHER LEGGING

These faux-leather leggings caught my eye the last time I was scrolling through the A&F site. Maybe it’s the flattering high waist, the surprisingly chic belt or the genius addition of front pockets. Either way, I cannot wait to rock these with everything from an oversized sweater to a lacy silk cami.

BUY IT ($78)

8. The Turtleneck Sweater Dress

Confession: I normally despise sweater dresses. I absolutely adore them on other people (so cozy! so cute!), but as someone with a bigger bust, this silhouette never seems to work on me. However, the vertical ribbed stitching of this style draws the eye up, so my torso looks long and lean rather than wide and frumpy. I love that the bottom hem is straight rather than tapered around the bum and that the length hits somewhere around mid-thigh. Yup, this is the one for me.
