Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Good Place season 4.

The Good Place's most recent episode featured Friends legend Lisa Kudrow in a memorable cameo as Hypatia of Alexandria (aka Patty).

Known for her delightfully bonkers character Phoebe Buffay in the (greatest ever?) sitcom, Kudrow once again tuned into her comedy skills to great effect for The Good Place's final season.

In the episode, Patty was responsible for opening Eleanor and Chidi's eyes to the problems existing in paradise.

Detailing the thinking behind Kudrow's involvement, series creator Mike Schur told Variety: "When we designed the character, we knew she had to be foggy-brained and carry that comedic tone, and Lisa was the only person that made sense for this.

"I used to work on The Comeback a million years ago, and I sent her an email and asked her if she could do it," he continued.

"She was vacationing with her family, ironically I think in Greece, and she was like, 'This is is a sign.' So she came and did it and was delightful, as she always is."

The Good Place airs on NBC in the US, with episodes premiering a day later on Netflix. You can also catch it on E4 in the UK.
