The Lorde giveth and giveth and giveth. She had taken away for too long, but after a four year hiatus, the New Zealander released her most recent single, "Solar Power," this week. The Lorde hive has risen up again. It also happens that "Solar Power" has a music video that lends itself very well to memes.

This single is the first off of Lorde's third album of the same name. The cover, leaked earlier this month, is a bit of an eye of an eyebrow raiser itself, but hey—this is 2021 Lorde. She makes the rules; you just have to chill and go with the flow. After about 100 watches, we still aren't entirely sure what's going on in the music video for "Solar Power." We can deduce there is some type of Midsommar beach party going on, a few chess games, maybe a bong hit, the traditional passing of the golden horn, and of course, some yoga.

If none of that adds up too clearly for you, don't question it. That's ultimately the vibe of the music video—dance along to the song that speaks to your soul, participate in your favorite recreational activity, and have fun. If you have no chill, you're also not alone. Meme the hell out of Lorde's new video and join the rest of us. Perhaps, through these clues, we can deduce where this era of Lorde will take us.

To start, we must ask the low-hanging question: is this a pharmaceutical ad?

Then there are the people more concerned about the album cover itself.

No matter what you make of the new era of "Solar Power," let us be thankful that Lorde blessed us with this, an environmentally conscious bop, on the day we all slept through a solar eclipse.
