"Good Bones'" Mina Starsiak Hawk Teases Secret Project and Our First Clue Is a Hospital
After welcoming her second child in September, it's safe to say that Good Bones star Mina Starsiak Hawk probably has a lot on her plate. However, this week, the designing mama was able to slip away from diaper duty in order to pursue a special project.
The 35-year-old took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday to tease an upcoming "top secret" project. In her story, she's seen inside a rental car where she's warming up in "between shots," which implies that she's filming. "Can't tell you where I am. Can't tell you what I'm doing... but I'm excited for when I can," she wrote.
Hawk's ambiguous post led followers to speculate. One fan asked her if she was serving as a "guest judge" on Rock the Block's upcoming season. "Ugh, No! Don't get me started," she wrote in response followed by a laughing emoji and an "I wish" gif. Her response checks out as HGTV did not give her name when announcing the series' season 2 cast.
Interestingly enough— and this is where I turn into a detective— Starsiak re-posted an Instagram Story that she was tagged in that day. Since Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours, this clip gives us a better sense of her whereabouts this week.
In the video, Instagram user Carrie Divin (@lifemystylecarrie) wrote: "You can hear @mina_starsiak_hawk designing in the background." Divin also made a note that she was currently in the hospital as a patient and appeared to be listening to Starsiak talk design outside her hospital room. The video appears to be filmed from Divin's hospital bed, and shows the hospital floor and closed door. If you get a chance to watch the story before it elapses, you'll even hear Starsiak's voice. Although muffled behind the door, Starsiak is heard throwing out terms like "pop of color" and "cool grey vinyl floors." I don't know about you, but it definitely sounds like she's talking about design. Not to mention the way she speaks sounds very polished, as if she was in front of a camera.
Our next clue? On Wednesday morning, Starsiak shared a few videos from her hotel room overlooking a foggy river. "Look at the fog on the river, so I hope you guys figure out where I am," she said. Assuming she's still in Indianapolis, the river outside her window is most likely the White River, which coincidentally runs right by the city's top hospital, Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
Being that Starsiak's mom Karen Laine is not present, this "top secret" project is most likely not related to Good Bones, which will return for season 6 during summer 2021. Now I'm just spitballing here, but as I examine these clues, I have a hunch that Starsiak may be working on a special design project somehow tied to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. Sure, a hospital isn't her usual workspace; however, over the past couple months, she did spend some time in one as she welcomed daughter Charlotte to the world. Not to mention, her difficult pregnancy may have had her making frequent hospital visits. Moreover, this year's COVID-19 pandemic has stretched many hospitals and healthcare workers for resources. Perhaps Starsiak is repaying the hospital and/or its workers with a little design fun?
We'll keep you updated as we learn more. All we can confirm right now is that Starsiak is up to something good and we're excited.
