Is there going to be a season 2 of Survival of the Thickest?
In need of a feel good TV show, full of hilarious one liners and plenty of heartwarming moments this week? Then we have to recommend Netflix's latest series Survival of the Thickest, starring Michelle Buteau.
The comedy-drama series is inspired on Michelle's collections of essays of the same name and follows the life of Mavis Beaumont, a stylist who is attempting to rebuild her life after her photographer boyfriend cheats on her. This includes new friends, new clients and a rather interesting new room mate. We also follow the lives of her best friends Khalil (Tone Bell), who begins a relationship with a single mother and Marley (Tasha Smith) a queer woman working as a financial executive.
The eight-part series only dropped at the end of last week and viewers on social media are already calling out for a second season. So will Mavis and her friends return?

Has Survival of the Thickest season two been confirmed?
Right now there's been no confirmation the show will be returning for a second season and Michelle Buteau has said she won't be considering another season until writers get their rights met, in reference to the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
Speaking to Decider, Michelle said: "I would love nothing more for a season 2 and to talk about it, but I think it’s most important to acknowledge that the WGA is in a very crazy negotiation phase. [They’re] trying to get what they need, which is the basic of the basics,” Michelle said. “I don’t even want to really think about a season 2 until I feel like everyone is good and taken care of, and they have a contract that they feel good about."
Who might star in Survival of the Thickest season 2?
Whilst the series hasn't been confirmed for another season, we can't help but think about another potential season and who might be part of it. We couldn't really see Survival of the Thickest without Michelle Buteau so we'd hope to see her return as Mavis.
We'd also expect/hope to see the rest of the cast reprise their roles including Tasha Smith as Marley, Tone Bell as Khalil, Miss Peppermint as Peppermint, Marouane Zotti as Luca and Taylor Selé as Jacque.
This season was full of iconic guest appearances and recurring roles including Garcelle Beauvais as Natasha and Michelle Visage as Avery, so maybe if we keep our fingers crossed these two would also return?
What might happen in Survival of the Thickest season two?
Spoilers ahead! Season one ends with Mavis ending her engagement to Jacque and flying out to Italy to find Luca, so we'd expect a second season to cover what happened after the pair kissed in Italy.
We'd also like to see more of Mavis' styling work, including working with people to build them up through their fashion. Despite turning down Natasha's exclusivity offer, with Natasha's return at the end of the season, this could be an indication the pair are going to work together again. We'd also expect to see more of Khalil and Marley's storylines develop further.
