Update, August 4, 2020, 1:48 p.m. ET:

In mid-July, Keke Palmer confirmed that ABC had canceled the talk program Strahan, Sara, and Keke. More importantly though, she promptly shut down online hearsay that speculated ABC canceled the show because she showed public support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

I want to speak on this simply because I hate the narrative that if you speak your mind as a black person that you will in some way be punished. I have seen this going around and at first I ignored but in this climate I realized this is a dangerous message to send to our generation and the generation coming up. If anything my speaking out showed the corporations I work with how important my voice is and anyone that has a POV. The reality is I was never signed to “SSK” as one would a seasonal show. This business is dynamic and instead of thinking of me as a “series regular” see me see me as a brand that works with the corporation Disney/ABC News and this particular show I was on is no longer. That does not mean the relationship I have with them dies, that means it evolves. I hate talking about business because it can seem a bit weird and gets quite technical lol. But when I see such fear mongering comments I want to speak out so that no one ever feels or thinks that speaking out will cost them their job! I’m sure it can and has before, but let’s also recognize when it has not. That way more of us with our own minds speak out against any injustices we see. Trust me, walking in my truth has always made my blessings OVERFLOW and connect to those that are like minded and not with those that are not. Do not believe this lie. Stay courageous and stay true because GOD HAS YOU ALWAYS ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

"I want to speak on this simply because I hate the narrative that if you speak your mind as a black person that you will in some way be punished," she wrote. "I have seen this going around and at first I ignored but in this climate I realized this is a dangerous message to send to our generation and the generation coming up. Keke went on to explain that she wasn't signed on for Strahan, Sara and Keke as a "series regular," but rather as a "brand that works with the corporation Disney/ABC News and this particular show i was on is no longer."

Her post later continued: "I hate talking about business because it can seem a bit weird and gets quite technical lol. I’m sure it can and has before, but let’s also recognize when it has not. That way more of us with our own minds speak out against any injustices we see."

Keke's caption closed out with an encouraging message for her fans: "Stay courageous and stay true because GOD HAS YOU ALWAYS ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Weeks later, Keke appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she explained that she actually wasn't all that surprised when the show got cut.

“Here’s the thing, when the pandemic hit, that’s what became all on our minds, was the pandemic, corona — understanding COVID," she told Andy Cohen. "So I kind of knew that if our show did come back, it would have to be much, much, much later, because our show was really about an audience.”

She continued: “We do a little bit of news, but it’s entertainment. It’s really fun conversations and lighthearted. … It’s a different time now, so some of the conversation has changed, and I think that kind of pushed SSK out. So I expected it.”

It may — keyword being may — be the end of an era for Strahan, Sara and Keke.

Page Six recently reported that "multiple sources" confirmed it is likely the third-hour Good Morning America program, hosted by Michael Strahan, Sara Haines, and Keke Palmer, is coming to a close. Instead, it will reportedly be replaced with GMA 3: What You Need to Know (though, it's important to note that ABC has yet to make any comment on this hearsay).

As fans may remember, the network pulled Strahan, Sara and Keke off air in mid-March in order to give viewers daily coronavirus briefings from Amy Robach, Dr. Jen Ashton, and, at times, T.J. Holmes.

A spokesperson told the outlet that ABC was "proud" of the teams behind Strahan, Sara and Keke and GMA 3 for "how quickly they transitioned to producing a daily show to give people news and information they need during an unprecedented pandemic." The rep also noted that "conversations continue about how the show will evolve in the months ahead."

Why would ABC cancel Strahan, Sara and Keke?

Though, again, we can't be 100% sure that ABC is actually axing the show, there could be several reasons for the move. A Page Six "insider" notes that the program ABC replaced Strahan, Sara and Keke with called Pandemic: What You Need to Know ended up taking off, though it was "initially supposed to be a two-week experiment." That apparently transformed into the new proposed concept GMA 3: What You Need to Know, which is expected to cover all sorts of news topics.

Fans have taken to the show's Instagram account to question whether or not the show has been canceled. On top of that, others are voicing how much they miss the show and how they hope it'll come back ASAP.

The show has already undergone many changes since it first began with Michael and Sara in September 2018. First, ABC changed its name from GMA Day to Strahan and Sara in January 2019. Then, Keke was welcomed as a permanent co-host, which prompted another name makeover in August 2019.

Although it'll be a major bummer to potentially see Sara, Michael, and Keke split up (if the rumors turn out to be true), we'll be rooting each of them on whatever they decide to do next.
