Here’s How Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s First Month of Parenthood Is Going

It’s official: Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are parents! 

After initial reports from TMZ that the couple were expecting their first child, the supermodel confirmed the happy news on April 30 during a remote appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

“Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well-wishes and support, so…” she said. “I’m trying [to be present for every part of it]. Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it.”

A source also spilled some tea to Entertainment Tonight at the time. “Gigi and Zayn are expecting their first child together and the couple is very excited,” the source said. “Gigi has kept the secret close to her family and friends for a while as she’s only a few months along. Once Gigi and Zayn got back together at the end of last year it was like they never skipped a beat and knew what they had was special. The couple and their families are overjoyed.”

Here’s everything else we (reportedly) know about Gigi Hadid’s pregnancy and baby.

Hadid’s mom, Yolanda, was very excited to be a grandmother. Before Hadid confirmed the news herself, a Dutch outlet reportedly spoke to her mom. “Still shocked our little secret got leaked to the press,” she told RTL Boulevard. “Of course, we are so excited. I am excited to become Oma in September especially after I lost my mom so recently. But this is the beauty of life; one soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed.”

The couple was reportedly “thrilled” at the baby news, though it was a surprise. “They’ve been through their ups and downs, but neither stopped caring about the other,” a source told People. “They’ve jumped on the timing of having a baby and are preparing for their new lives.” The source added, “Gigi is young but always said she wants several kids. She’s sensitive and nurturing and will be a great mom.”

Hadid was pregnant during Fashion Month in February. The supermodel appeared on an Instagram Live makeup tutorial with Maybelline and makeup artist Erin Parsons and gave us a little hint as to how far along she was in her pregnancy. “People think I do fillers on my face and that’s why my face is round, but I’ve had cheeks since I was born,” she said, per Entertainment Tonight. “Especially Fashion Month when I was already a few months preggo.”

Hadid documented her pregnancy, even though she hadn't been sharing lots of photos publicly. During an Instagram Live with V Magazine in July 2020, the model said her pregnancy was “not the most important thing going on in the world,” referencing the coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement. 

But she did take lots of pictures and write in her journal about this special time in her life. “I have been taking a lot of pictures of my bump and sending it to friends and family, and it’s been really cute and exciting…. I’m trying to document it well, because I’ve heard a lot of people say, ‘Make sure you don’t miss it,’” she said. “And I will be sharing stuff like that in the future. I just am not rushed to do it, and I feel like right now I just want to experience it… I just don’t want to worry about waking up every day during my pregnancy and, like, worry about having to look cute or post something.” 

She also gave the world its first look at her baby bump. “There’s my belly, y’all. Like, it’s there,” she said.

It's a girl! Malik confirmed the birth of his and Hadid's daughter on Twitter on September 23. “Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task,” he wrote. “The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x”

Hadid shared another photo of her little girl's hand on Instagram. “Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love🥺💕,” she wrote in the caption. 

The couple is “loving” parenthood. “Gigi and Zayn can't get enough of their little girl,” a source told Us Weekly for an article posted on October 16. “Things are going really swimmingly between them and they're both so happy. Gigi is so excited to be a new mom and has been appreciating every moment.”
