Gigi Hadid is pleading with paparazzi and fans to help her keep her daughter, Khai's, privacy as grows up in the public eye. The model took to Instagram on Tuesday to write a note to "paparazzi, press, & fan accounts," explaining that she has decided that she is not going to share Khai's face publicly, asking others to respect that decision.
"As our baby grows up we have to realize that we can't protect her from everything the way we wanted to and could when she was smaller," Gigi wrote in the beginning of her letter. She explains that while she normally keeps the sunshade on Khai's carriage down while walking in New York, recently the 10-month-old has been pushing it up. "She doesn't understand why she's covered in the city," Gigi wrote. "I also want her to see the most amazing city in the world...that is, without the stress of the media circus that comes with parents who are public figures."
Gigi revealed that she and Zayn Malik have decided to let Khai "choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age" so that "she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen."
"We have never intentionally shared out daughter's face on social media," she said. "It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC, and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera."
While Gigi has posted many photos of Khai on Instagram, it has always been of her body or the back of her head. It is now clear that she will not be sharing her daughter's face anytime soon.
