The YouTube star came dressed to be seen, turning out in a glittering, August Getty-designed gown boasting a low cowl neckline and a thigh-high slit. Gigi wore her hair sleek and straight with a part down the middle, and served up glam goddess with her makeup.

On Instagram, Getty said he used 500,000 Swarovski crystals to create the “million dollar dress.”

But was it just hyperbole?

According to Atelier Swarovski, Getty used Swarovski crystal mesh to create the piece, putting the price at $270,000.

And while Getty won’t disclose the actual price of the dress, he tells Yahoo Style that he calls it the “million dollar dress” for a reason. “It’s completely made out of Swarovski crystal mesh and was hand sewn with silver metal thread,” he says. “It took over two months to complete and over six months of technical design, with as many as five people working on it at the same time.” That’s a lot of work!

Getty adds that he’s known Gorgeous for years, and that, “From the moment I met, her I knew she would become my muse.” Their shared love for The Little Mermaid informed the dress design, he says, and so, “at this climactic moment in her life, referencing Ariel seemed especially appropriate.”
