Giannis Antetokounmpo's younger brother tests the NBA draft waters

Few prospects can average fewer than six points a game and garner intrigue when they turn pro. However, when you’re the brother of The Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, ears naturally perk up. Dayton forward Kostas Antetokounmpo is such a player and on Thursday, the Dayton Flyers forward declared for the 2018 NBA draft.

The 6-foot-10, 197 pound, Kostas had a modest redshirt season for the Flyers averaging approximately 5 points per game, but started only six of 29 contests.

Kostas, 20, did however, make an astute decision to leave himself an avenue to withdraw from the draft before the June 11 early entrant deadline by opting not to hire an agent. In terms of pure talent, Kostas is a pure power forward who lacks Giannis’ versatility. The possibility for his latent upside to emerge is still there. However, at this point in his career he’s more comparable to the oldest Antetokounmpo brother, Thanasis. The oldest Antetokounmpo was a starter for the {Philadelphia 76ers’ G-League affiliate.

If Kostas returns to school, he’ll assume a much more prominent position in Dayton’s hierarchy following an exodus of rotation players from Dayton since the season ended.
