Get ready Scream fans: The fifth installment of the beloved slasher series is coming sooner than you think, and we got the first trailer just in time for Halloween.

Paramount dropped the first footage from the film, which hails from directors Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, on Tuesday. The flick is the first of the series to be made without original director Wes Craven, who sadly passed away in 2015.

The footage kicks off with a familiar scene: a teenage girl home alone getting a handful of mysterious phone calls from (you guessed it) Ghostface himself. Oh, and it’s clear he’s gotten good with technology. This time around, the attacks are all on people related to the original murders and it’s not long before Sidney Prescott comes face to face with her harrowing past once again. Watch the clip below.

The film’s official synopsis reads, “Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.”

Scream veterans Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dewey Riley) return to their iconic roles alongside newcomers Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Sonia Ammar

Scream is set for release Jan. 14, 2022, and we can’t wait.
