The hashtag #ghosttrend currently has over 141 million views on TikTok.
TikToker @kieu4nh_ called the ghost trend a “sad part of growing up” as she looked back at all the friendships she left behind.
“Thank you for all the memories but I‘m ready to move on,” @whosdala wrote in a caption.
Beatrice Harrods took a different approach and drew on physical copies of her photos.
“People come and go, and you can only be grateful for the good times,” she wrote in the caption, adding in the comments section, “I’ve been crying for two days over this trend. What would you say to the people who disappeared from your life?”
How to do the ghost trend on TikTok
The easiest way to edit your photo is to use the Snapchat app.
Step 1: Hit the “Memories” tab in Snapchat and select “Camera roll.”
Step 2: Choose the image you want to edit.
Step 3: Click “Edit” on the bottom left corner.
Step 4: Use the “Pen” tool to draw ghosts over your photo. Most people use a simple white ghost with a black outline.
Step 5: Tap “Share” to download your edited photo so you can upload it on TikTok.
