Georgia linebacker yells 'humble yourself' at Baker Mayfield after Rose Bowl

We’re going to take a wild guess and assume Georgia linebacker Davin Bellamy’s shouts of “humble yourself” were directed at Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The Bulldogs beat the Sooners 54-48 in double overtime in an incredible Rose Bowl on Monday. After the game as players were shaking hands, Bellamy shouts the phrase not long after Mayfield passes in front of him.

Here’s Bellamy talking more about why he yelled the phrase.

The 2017 Heisman winner is certainly a polarizing figure for his attitude. But Mayfield’s attitude is largely because he can back up what he says. Trash talk and bringing a sign in to the Rose Bowl that says “pretenders” is lame when you’re not a star player.

Mayfield threw a key interception in the Rose Bowl and it led to a go-ahead score by Georgia. But the Heisman winner came back and led Oklahoma on a game-tying drive. When the game was in overtime, Oklahoma largely went away from Mayfield. To the Sooners’ detriment. OU had to settle for field goal tries in both overtimes and Mayfield threw the ball downfield just once in OU’s eight offensive plays.

The game was Mayfield’s second College Football Playoff appearance. The Sooners lost to Clemson in the Orange Bowl after the 2015 season. Mayfield said after the game that Monday’s loss hurt more because it was his final game with the school.

Mayfield finished 23-of-35 passing for 287 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
