George Clooney has revealed that Brad Pitt almost inadvertently turned his neighbors against him after Pitt played a naughty prank on him while they were filming Ocean's Twelve in Italy.

Clooney, who has appeared in iconic movies including Burn After Reading and Gravity, told GQ that his Ocean's co-star decided to stitch him up while they were filming the action sequel at Lake Como by making him look like a major diva.

"We shot some of it in Lake Como which is my hometown," Clooney explained. "Brad sent out a memo to all the people in the town—my town, I'd lived there for years—he had it posted on telephone poles and said 'The movie is coming to town and please only address George Clooney as Mr.Clooney or his character name of Danny Ocean and don't look him right in the eyes.'

"So the paper was like 'Il divo! George Clooney is il divo!' It was a horrible story which I later got him back for."

But he did add that Pitt's joke wasn't the only example of silliness behind the scenes, as he revealed that he once bet Pitt and Don Cheadle $10,000 to stay overnight in an empty 'haunted' house across the lake from his Lake Como home.

"There was an Italian book about it and we'd made up a story about how haunted it was," he said, adding that the trio, accompanied by Matt Damon, took a boat over to the house at 3am and went inside.

"We came down to the conclusion, we give $10,000 to any guy that could spend the night in the haunted house with just a candle, six matches and a bottle of wine," Clooney said, revealing that Pitt and Cheadle had agreed to do it.

But the pair apparently didn't last very long, with Clooney adding that he got a call from them soon afterwards saying: "F**k that, get us out of this house!"

All that pranking clearly didn't have an adverse effect on the group's friendship though, as Clooney revealed that the cast "had a wonderful time" working together and said that his co-stars are "all still very dear friends."
