George Clooney left behind his “single” title the moment he met Amal in July 2013. The human rights lawyer was passing through Italy with a mutual friend who decided to make a stop at Clooney’s Lake Como home. The actor’s agent was also in on the meet-and-greet. “I got a call from my agent who said, ‘I met this woman who is coming to your house, who you’re going to marry,'” Clooney said in an interview with David Letterman. What was his first impression? “I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart.”
While there was an attraction, the romance wasn’t immediate. They ended up talking and emailing for a few weeks before going on their first date, in London. Six months later, Clooney proposed. He prepared a romantic home-cooked dinner. “I did all the stuff, got down on my knee and did all the things you’re supposed to do,” Clooney said. A lavish Italian wedding followed, and in June 2017, the couple welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander.
