Geoffrey Zakarian Opens New Restaurant Point Royal and Counter Point Cafe

Non-stick pans and skillets, specifically.

Celebrity chef and TV star Geoffrey Zakarian now has two new reasons to celebrate in the Sunshine State—the opening of his latest restaurant, Point Royal restaurant at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida, and it’s little sister, Counter Point.

Designed by Gachot (ACME, Andrew Carmellini’s Little Park), Point Royal was created to put a modern spin on a seaside restaurant. It serves up coastal American cuisine—meaning there’s more to it than just seafood on the menu—in an indoor-outdoor venue. As you'd expect, Point Royal features the full spectrum of the cuisine that Zakarian is best known for dreaming up.

The restaurant is also the home of the only raw bar on the resort property, as well as having The Diplomat's most comprehensive wine list. Point Royal's center bar specializes in fresh juice-based cocktails, like the Upside Down Pineapple for Two, in which fresh pineapple and lime juice are paired with Bacardi Light Rum, Zacapa 23, V.E.P and Velvet Falernum.

Among the highlight dishes on the menu are GZ Butter Poached Lobster Roll with Coleman’s Mustard & Bibb Lettuce; The Point Royal Ugly Burger with a Dry-Aged Double Patty, Bread & Butter Pickles, Aged American Cheese, Remoulade; and Pomegranate Glazed Short Rib with Watercress & Heirloom Carrot Salad and Swank Farms Pickled Vegetables.

With breakfast making its debut today, Point Royal is now firing on all cylinders with all day service.

But that’s not all that Food Network star Zakarian had up his sleeves for Diplomat Beach Resort visitors.

Having just celebrated Point Royal’s opening this past Sunday, Zakarian took to Twitter with a #foodcrushfriday reveal: An “opening day alert”—that his café and retail shop, Counter Point, is now open for business, too.

Zakarian accompanied his tweet with a shot of a display case packed with delectable-looking sweet treats.
