Often, I hear people talking about how it’s not the right time to do something or how they’re waiting for the perfect set of circumstances before making a move. I am here to say, do not wait. Whatever you want to do? Do it. You only get one life—there is no dress rehearsal.

Listen, I know how busy life can get. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and go through the motions—I am guilty of this myself. Recently, I was speaking to someone who had visited New York City for the first time. I asked them what they did while here and they said they went to the Statue of Liberty. I live in New York and have never been there. Can you believe that? I’ve always wanted to go, but I’ve never made it a priority.

Life is short. I can’t believe I am sitting here as a grandmother—that my daughter, Kirby, is a mother. It feels like just yesterday that she was my little baby and now she has one of her own. Snap. That’s how fast life goes.

So, I really try to operate from the “drink it up” school. Enjoy life. Do the things you want to do. Tell the people you care about how you feel. Enjoy every minute—because none of us know how long we have and it’s important to take advantage of every single moment of this fabulous life.
