Rotoworld's Steve Alexander discusses Gary Trent Jr.'s 2020-21 outlook, explaining why he'll be a vital piece off the bench for Portland as a 3-point sharpshooter, and why he's worth a late round pick.
STEVE ALEXANDER: Gary Trent, Jr. of the Portland Trailblazers had a coming out party in the bubble in Orlando last year. Playing for the Portland Trailblazers, he was bombing threes, which is his specialty. He was getting rebounds. He was scoring a ton of points off the Blazers bench.
And he's going to have a huge role off the Blazers bench again this year. He also could end up starting some games. He's having a decent pre-season. In four games, Trent's averaging 14.8 points, 1.8 boards, 1.8 assists, and 2.5 three-pointers. And as I said, three-pointers are his specialty. That's going to be the main way he contributes. But he is going to get some rebounds. He is going to get some steals. He might even get a block or two.
But the thing he's going to do is score a lot of points, and he's going to do it efficiently, and he's going to get you a lot of three-pointers. And he is a guy that can be had in fantasy drafts at the very end, like round 14, round 13. Really no risk involved there. He's a high upside pick. I'm all about Gary Trent, Jr. this year.
