'Game of Thrones' Releases Final Limited-Edition Whiskey

From the sound of most people’s reaction, Game of Thrones ended with less of a bang and more of a whimper. Between big battles filmed in frustratingly low lighting to Starbucks cups somehow appearing in shots, a lot of fans probably would rather drink to forget how an otherwise amazing show ended.

Well, whether you want to block out the memory of the HBO fantasy franchise or toast to the life (and death) of your favorite characters, the final release in a limited-edition series of nine whiskeys should help. Produced in a partnership between the premium cable network and iconic spirit company Diageo, Six Kingdoms - Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a 15-year-aged bottle, the last of the nine in a series celebrating the show.

In terms of its development, Six Kingdoms was “matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned casks and finished in American Oak ex-bourbon casks,” which sounds neat and good. That results in notes of vanilla and spice that make for a bold and smooth finish, according to a press release cited by Delish.

But fans of the show probably care much more about the little nods to the series’ finale that the bottle features (MAJOR spoilers ahead for those who haven’t finished GoT). Specifically, the whiskey’s name is a reference to the number of kingdoms left in Westeros upon the conclusion of the series. The bottle’s artwork depicts a three-eyed raven, a nod to Bran Stark, who’s put in charge at the end of the series after spending most of his time being shuttled around the north and having weird visions.

Much like defeating the Night King, getting your hands on a bottle of Six Kingdoms will be no easy task. It will be sold in “extremely limited” quantities starting in December, and each bottle will retail for an exorbitant $150. Hey, at least it’s cheaper and easier to get your hands on this booze than it would be to reshoot the entire final season yourself.
