Gabrielle Union is no stranger to the beauty game. Known for her youthful glow, smooth skin, and beautiful natural hair, Union makes sure to find time every day to practice some self-care and take care of her strands.

The star’s love for beauty ultimately led to the creation of Flawless, a haircare brand designed to deliver luxury formulas at affordable prices. “We were dedicated to developing the perfect blend of high-quality, affordable products for all types of textured hair to promote flawless beauty through choice and diversity,” Union said in a statement to Allure.

Developed in collaboration with her long-time friend and celebrity hairstylist, Larry Sims, the collection features 12 products with hydrating and nutrient-rich ingredients for afro-textured hair types. Now, the carefully curated line is available at both Walmart and Amazon.

“I’m proud of this collection because we were intentional about crafting a line that is versatile enough to provide solutions for all style choices,” Sims wrote on the brand’s website. “From curls, waves and coils, to heat styles, braids, wigs, and weaves, there is a Flawless product to support your hair.”

The line features must-have ingredients for natural hair textures like rice oil complex, which adds shine and increases the hair’s ability to absorb moisture, and Lilac leaf extract, which works to repair and protect damaged hair.

“Natural oils from your scalp can easily run down the hair shaft providing nutrients to the strands for those with straight hair,” said Fran Cook-Bolden, M.D., a dermatologist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York, in a previous interview with Prevention.com. “But, if you have coarse and curly hair, it’s harder for these oils to do so, and therefore, the hair tends to be drier.”

You’ll also find more nourishing ingredients in the star's collection, like Brazilian bacuri butter which is a star ingredient in the Flawless shampoo and conditioner. It helps to keep hair moisturized after washing.

The road to launching Flawless was not all glitz and glam, however. During the initial launch announcement of Flawless in 2017, Union was undergoing IVF treatments which led to certain complications like hair loss.

“Launching a line called Flawless when I felt anything but, felt fraudulent and inauthentic,” Union told Glamour. “I wanted to wait until my hair grew back, but they (the owners of Flawless at the time) felt we had a certain window.”

Eventually, the deal ran out and Union decided to bring back the company, invest in it herself, and brought on Sims as a co-founder. Fast forward a few years and business is booming with Flawless haircare available at various large retailers like Sally Beauty, Amazon, and most recently Walmart.

Customers are also enjoying the haircare products and leaving rave reviewers about the benefits they’re getting. “I ordered Gabrielle Union’s ‘Flawless’ line of hair products this week and I am beyond delighted with the results,” wrote one Amazon customer.

“I bought the oil, the shampoo, the leave-in conditioner, and the heat protectant. My hair has never been easy to flat iron and when I did so, it would usually be left brittle and straw-like,” wrote another customer. “With these products, it is almost like my hair has been healed. I was able to straighten it fast and afterward, it felt soft, shiny, and healthy-looking. Even my split ends don’t look split anymore. I got all four products in a box for under $40. I’m never going back to other products now.”
