Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade Have a Low-Key 'No Thanksgiving Thanksgiving'

Gabrielle Union and her husband Dwyane Wade celebrated Thanksgiving a little differently this year: by having a “no Thanksgiving Thanksgiving.”

“No, no, no, we did not cancel Thanksgiving,” the Cleveland Cavaliers player insisted.

“So what are we doing?” she asked.

“Nothing,” he said.

The couple then revealed that they hadn’t actually canceled their celebration, they were just delaying it until Saturday. “I felt it would be better because I have a game tomorrow,” Wade explained.

“So you canceled Thanksgiving?” Union repeated, teased her husband.

And in honor of their non-holiday, the family didn’t eat a traditional turkey dinner.

“Protein shake,” he replied.

“Some old b— that’s what that is,” she replied.

The Being Mary Jane star also shared a photo of the dinner spread that they ate alongside Wade’s nephew Dahveon Morris, 16, and sons from a previous marriage Zaire, 15, and Zion, 10.

“Nope that’s not turkey,” she said. “What are we eating Zaire?”

“Some tacos,” he responded.

Union then proceeded to go around the table and show that the only person who looked like he was happy about the change of plans was Wade himself.

But despite a little good-natured teasing, Union also shared a sweet photo of her and Wade from the casual evening. “Black Girl Magic x Uggs = No Thanksgiving Thanksgiving,” she wrote alongside the cuddly picture.

But at least there was one Thanksgiving tradition that didn’t get canceled: alcohol.

“I like to be pretty tipsy by the time it gets started,” Union previously told PEOPLE as she explained what her tips for being a hostess on the holidays were. “Usually I find a little booze ahead of time. [It] kind of eases you into the holidays and gives you the space to not stress out.”
