Make Fun of Maroon 5 All You Want. Here's Proof Adam Levine Is a Good Dude and a Great Dad

    Maroon 5 makes some of the more forgettable pop-rock in recent memory, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad dudes. Case in point: heavily tatted lead singer Adam Levine, who chose his family over money when he left The Voice. Are you ready to find out how much money he walked away from? Are you then prepared to ask yourself if you would have done the same?

    Earlier this year, Levine suddenly quit the uber-popular reality competition show leaving $30 million on the table to stay at home with daughters Gio Grace and Dusty Rose, who are just three and one, respectively. Boom. It’s an impressive move and one that is 100 percent a great example for dads everywhere.

    In an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Levine explained why he’s happy with his decision.

    “I really do miss it. I love the people that I met and worked with,” he said of the show, “but I don’t miss how much I had to work. I was constantly working for so many years — very lucky, very fortunate, very blessed and all that — but to just be able to stop in this moment to spend time with my new young family and just have the greatest time ever. Now I’m just like a stay-at-home dad. I just stay at home and do very little.”

    While the implication that SAHDs “do very little” isn’t ideal, it’s hard to argue that Levine made the right choice for his kids, one that plenty of dads with that luxury wouldn’t necessarily make.

    “I’m obsessed with them,” Levine said. “I genuinely just adore them in a way I never knew I could adore any person.”

    Maroon 5 is still going strong—Levine was on Ellen to perform a new song—so it’s not as though he’s completely out of the limelight. But in a world where not enough parents have the chance to spend a lot of time with their kids, it’s nice to see a rich and famous dude take advantage of the opportunity.
