Friendship never ends. The Spice Girls: Then and now

The Spice Girls became global phenomenons with one simple motto: girl power! Posh, Baby, Scary, Sporty, and Ginger Spice brought their own sense of style and personalities, becoming the most successful British band since The Beatles. Talk about success! Mel B (Scary), Victoria Beckham (Posh), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby), and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty) formed the fierce five back in 1994. They released their first album, “Spice,” in 1996, and soon everyone was singing along to “Wannabe.” The album went on to make history, becoming the best-selling album by a female group — we’ll sing “zigazig-ah” to that! Their girl power anthems ruled the late ’90s, culminating in the 1997 release of their own movie, “Spice World.” The fandom has been strong for more than two decades, and so has their friendship. After pursuing their own music, the group went on a reunion tour in 2007. Five years later, they surprised everyone during the 2012 London Olympics. But wait, there could be more, with everyone signed on for another tour, according to Mel B. That’s right, Spice World nation, the ladies will be back onstage. Mel B, who competed on “Dancing With the Stars” and is now a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” said: “We just all click. When we all get back together, it’s just like the good ol’ days.” Are you ready for Spice Girls mania? If so, it’s time to brush up on your favorite songs.
